My 2023/2024 reflections: The power of letting go

This year I've realised the crucial role of 'letting go' in allowing the new to emerge. An all too often overlooked prerequisite for innovation, which tends to be overlooked when we review our activities solely through an economic lens, emphasising results, progress and quantitative gains.

Allowing ourselves to consciously 'let go' of some of our mindsets, beliefs, projects or expectations creates a space of necessary openness to invite new possibilities, expansion and potential into our lives and business activities.

In my 2023 review through the lens of letting go, I have moved away from evaluating my business activities solely through economic metrics to viewing each situation as an opportunity to co-create human value.

This shift lifted my professional life into a much higher inspirational energetic vibration. It alchemised the result-driven chase into an energetically rich human co-creative journey. Every client interaction transcended from a mere business transaction to a sacred and inspiring invitation to grow humanity together.

As I continue to build the mission-driven educational arm of Human Facts - the Partnering Leadership Academy (PLA) - in 2024, I will build even more boldly on the transformative power of consciously 'letting go' of certain ideas and mindsets, experimenting with the new space that this creates:

  1. From Providing to Building Knowledge: Letting go of the idea of only providing existing knowledge within the PLA, we created a Partnering Corporation Charter together with like-minded leaders and experts around the world. It's a co-created letter of intent to build an interdisciplinary knowledge base for companies moving from competitive to partnering models. Pending the necessary financial crowdfunding, we plan to relaunch the Partnering Corporation Think Tank with a new concept in 2024. If you'd like to be noticed when we relaunch, join the non-binding waiting list here.

  2. From Individual to Co-growth: Dropping consciously our conditioned idea that each company should look after its own survival, I started a PLA podcast series with some wonderful guest teaching and consultancy experts, which allowed us to co-promote our related services together. It was such an enlightening experience! Thank you all! It also led to put the needs of other consultants, coaches and HR professionals more into the foreground within the PLA audience. The encouraging response to our first workshop kit, Finding Shared Purpose, which was also offered to consultancy colleagues, made me realise the value of our consultancy experience in the area of cultural change to other colleagues. It's planned to share more of these experiences systematically in 1:1 supervision and master mentoring groups in 2024. If you'd like to get noticed, please sign up to the PLA community news.

  3. From Content to Valuable Interaction: Letting go of the idea that this world needs more content in the form of blogs, podcasts and books was raised at one of our Friends of PLA meetings and was probably the most painful for me to acknowledge. But it led me to recognise what I believe is really needed: meaningful and valuable interaction that provides room for human revelation and engagement for a higher purpose. That's why, in 2024, the PLA will focus on purposeful and rich interaction formats that make individual, self-directed, action-oriented transformational journeys more joyful, meaningful and effective together as a group.
  4. From Marketing to Inspiration. Letting go of the conventional marketing advice to opt for a constant, high-frequency newsletter and social media posting presence has led to a bold attempt to take the road less travelled: In 2024, I plan to abandon our monthly frequency and instead experiment with sharing new insights with our community sporadically and maybe in a more interactive format.
  5. From Fast Results to a Rich Learning Journey: Inspired by a fellow academy start-up owner, I let go of the imposed entrepreneurial idea of growing quickly by hiring external support. Instead, I allowed the PLA to become a rich and open learning journey experience, unfolding at its own pace with all those connected and involved. This approach has encouraged me to collaborate with other creators, to professionalise in online education and teaching and to invest in continuous improvement by piloting beta versions - all of which has led to an increased expertise in online content creation that now benefits equally all ongoing consultancy and 1:1 executive sparring mandates.

And what did you let go of this year that invited a new insight, idea or activity? If this question resonates with you, I am very happy to share with you this specifically designed year-end questionnaire ‘the power of letting go’ to reflect on the past year and the year ahead through the lens of what to say actively good-by to. You are welcome to get it here from the PLA page.

And of course I'd love to hear from you! Share your most remarkable letting go experiences with me directly or with our community here below.

Wishing you a peaceful and spacious 2024, overflowing you with an ocean of new possibilities and potentials!
